Obituary for Claire Ann Shulski

Claire Ann (Beacham) Shulski, 92, of Mt. Carmel passed away Friday, September 29th, 2017 at Mt. Carmel Senior Living, Mt. Carmel, PA
Born in Mt. Carmel, PA October 11,1924 the daughter of the late David and Margaret (McNamara) Beacham Reidy.
She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel Area High School, Class of 1942. She married her childhood sweetheart, Leonard J. Shulski, on January 9, 1943 at St. John the Baptist Church in Manayunk, PA while he was on leave during WWII. He was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne.
Claire was a resident of the Mt. Carmel Nursing Center since May 2015. Prior to this, she resided at the Mid Rise on Hickory St. Claire was a talented painter and writer. She also had a fondness for telling it like it was to anyone within ear shot. A true Irish spirit. A loving person who volunteered at the Shamokin Hospital, was active in her younger years with Holy Spirit School as a CCD teacher and volunteered with Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Claire and her husband, Leonard were also credited with starting the Supper Club in the 1980's at the Mid Rise-making meals directly from their own kitchen. The Supper Club remains a weekly event for the residents. While living in Philadelphia, Claire worked for City Service Oil before the company moved. Claire is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents; and her most faithful companion, McDuffie (her cat). Surviving are a son and daughter: David J. Shulski of Marion Heights,PA; :Joanne wife of William Ford of Wilberton,PA. Two grandchildren: Christopher D. Shulski of Reading, PA and Meghan (Ford) wife of John Domen of Bowie, MD. Six great grandchildren: Alec, Tanner, Kylie and Kalie Shulski, and Cassandra and Dean Domen. Numerous loving cousins near and afar.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Divine Redeemer Church, Mt. Carmel, PA, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 with Very Reverend Martin Morgan officiating. Interment at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Annville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 438 West Ave., Mt. Carmel, PA 17851. Willard Rothermel Funeral Home, Mt. Carmel has charge of arrangements. Ray Rothermel, Supervisor. Charles Heizenroth III, F.D.
