Obituary for Raymond C. Murray

Raymond C Murray entered into his eternal rest at Geisinger Shamokin hospital on Thursday March 23, 2017. He was born July 28, 1927 in Mount Carmel to Edward and Susan Sauer Murray. He attended Mt Carmel High School where he was a musician playing clarinet in the high school band. Upon graduation he spend 4 years in the Navy . Afterwards he worked in the garment industry in factories in Trevorton Shamokin and Hazelton and became a specialized marker and grader at Country Miss Fashions in Easton Pa. . He met the love of his life Eleanor Snedden in Ann's restaurant at the pinball machine where it was love at first sight. They were married on July 4, 1953. He entertained many as a saxophonist with The Johnny Bogush Quartet. His faith in God was the foundation of his life. He spread the gospel of Jesus to everyone he came into contact with. His other passions were music and sports. He love MCA sports especially football where he would be seen at all the home games. He would make DVDs of the games and share them with players and their families. He also spent many hours making his own music DVDs to share with his friends always including the call to salvation . He was an exceptional man , loving husband, father ,and grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived along with his wife, Eleanor; daughter Diana Lutz and her husband Jonathan of Mt Carmel; and son Robert Murray and his wife Anne of Coal Township.Two granddaughters: Alyssa Marsh and husband Brandon of State College; and Courtney Passaretti of Atlas., Four great grandsons: Colton and Camrin Passaretti ; Dustin and Draven Murray. A sister in law Nancy Murray of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by: grandson, Brandon Murray; two sisters Laura Murray and Dorothy Dickey ; and a brother Nelson Murray and also his beloved cat Hubcap. Love is eternal. You are finally where you have longed to be . We will miss you forever until we meet again with our Lord and Savior. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Rev. Joan Brown will officiate. Interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Willard Rothermel Funeral Home, Mt.Carmel is in charge of arrangements. Ray Rothermel, Supervisor. Charles Heizenroth III, FD
