Barry D. Lenhart
Barry D. Lenhart, Age 74, went to be with his Savior on January 10, 2023, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson and Lewy Body Dementia. His loving wife and children were by his bed side as he passed. He was a great father, husband and Pop Pop.
He was born in Shamokin hospital on April 1, 1948 to the late William and Loraine Lenhart of Shamokin, PA.
He attended Coal Township High School. In his younger years he enjoyed riding dirt bikes.
On April 26, 1969 at Grace Lutheran Church in Shamokin, PA he married his soul mate and best friend Dorothy Mary (Crowley) Lenhart.
In April 1966 Barry enlisted in the United States Air Force and served 26 years of distinguished service to his country. He proudly served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 and was a Tet Offensive survivor. In addition, throughout his career he proudly served with the 4450th Tactical Support Group participating in special classified projects such as the Stealth Fighter Jet. He retired in 1992 as an E8, Senior Master Sergeant. He spent the last 10 years of his Air Force career as a First Sergeant.
Upon retirement, Barry founded Superior Ribbons and Medals, which provided military personnel world- wide with custom made awards and decorations.
Barry was a devoted husband and father and loved spending time with his wife and children. When he found free time he enjoyed fishing and shooting pool.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and his brother Bill Lenhart. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, daughter Michelle (husband Greg) Freeman and their children Emily (husband Brian Mucklow) and Allie, son Barry II (wife Dawn) Lenhart and their children Barry III, Alexis (husband Dustin McGehee), and four great grandchildren.
