Betty Lou Tomko, 82, of Pottsville passed away Tuesday July 7, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospital - Miners Campus in Coaldale.
Born in Ashland on September 2, 1943 a daughter of the late Betty and Peter Kroshefskie Sr. She was the widow of Steven M. Tomko the love of her life to whom she was married for 43 years.
Surviving are son Raymond K. & Helen Heiber, Kodak, TN; son Russell S. & Tammy Heiber, Oak Island, NC; stepson Daniel Tomko & Fiancé Susan Mittelbusher, Hope Mills, NC; sister Donna Flynn, Ashland; brother Peter Kroshefskie Jr, Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren & (great grandchildren) Angela Barrett (Max & Lucy) Raymond J. Heiber (Raymond M. & Aaron & Liliana) Maria Storm (Stella & Celia) Diana Wallace (Sunnie) Amanda Flook (Carter & Caspian) Cody Meeker, Eric Heiber, Samantha White (Elliot & Eden) Tara Mattingly; nephews Thomas Yeager & Peter Kroshefskie.
Betty was a 1961 graduate of Ashland Area High School and the Vo Tech CNA program. She was a past member of South Schuylkill Garden Club. She previously worked at the Pottsville YWCA for 18 years as a secretary/bookkeeper. She had attended floral design schools and Tannersville Community College studying advanced wedding design. She worked in a floral shop as assistant manager and designer in the Pocono area before becoming a CNA. She loved her many gardens and working with flowers which was her passion. Betty also liked traveling, music, cooking and baking. She always said she had a God given talent with flowers.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Lavelle. She was employed at Broad Mountain Health & Rehabilitation Center, Frackville until retiring in 2016.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday July 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dillon Epler officiating at the funeral home. A visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be at Sky-View Memorial Park in Hometown.
