Calvin “Cal” E. Deitrick
Calvin “Cal” Deitrick, 93, of Elysburg passed away Tuesday evening March 11th at Geisinger Medical Center-Danville.
Born in Shamokin on November 12, 1931 he was the son of the late Mae (Hine) and Adam Deitrick.
He was of the Christian faith. Cal was a member of the Elysburg Alliance Church.
He graduated from Ralpho Township High School in 1949.
Cal was the husband of Gayle J. (Wynn) Deitrick. On November 19th of this year, they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Cal served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was a self-employed mechanic for most of his life. He owned and operated Cal Deitrick’s Garage in Paxinos for many years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cars and spending time outdoors. Most importantly he enjoyed being with his family.
Cal was a member of Trevorton VFW-Post 7813, American Legion-Shamokin, Valley Gun Club-Elysburg and the Elysburg Fire Company.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Adam Deitrick and sister Marion Hockenbrock.
He is survived by; Gayle J. Deitrick, Elysburg; brother Myron Deitrick, Lock Haven; son Calvin D. Deitrick (Paula), Elysburg; daughter Karen M. DeGuzis (Thomas), Danville; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild on the way; several nieces & nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday March 18th at 11:00 AM at Elysburg Alliance Church, 113 Alpha Ave, Elysburg PA 17824. A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday morning prior to services in the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Interment will follow services at Northumberland Memorial Park.
