Daniel “Packy” Pachkoski, 73 of Ashland, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening at his home.
He was born on April 20, 1949 in Bayonne, NJ the son of Gladys (Latsha) and John Pachkoski
He was a proud Marine veteran who served in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. He was the recipient of 2 Purple Hearts. Daniel was a member of Ashland Legion Post 434.
After his military service he worked as an Ashland Police Officer. He then worked for Gould’s Pumps in Ashland. Prior to retiring he last worked as a batch plant operator at Schuylkill Products in Cressona.
Daniel was a loving husband, father and Pappy who cherished spending time with his family.
His favorite pastimes were fishing and hunting. Some of his fondest memories were spent fishing on Lake Erie with his brothers, nephews and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers William Shirmer, John Shirmer, and Robert Shirmer and a beloved dog Katie.
In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by; daughter Gladys Pachkoski (Herbie Eisenman Jr.), Ashland; daughter Heather Pachkoski, Ashland; daughter Danielle Poltersdorf (Thomas Jr.), Lebanon; brother James Shirmer (Donnie), Rolling Meadows IL; grandchildren Gabrielle & Thomas Poltersdorf; many nieces, nephews, cousins.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 29th from 9:30-11 AM at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home at 11AM with Pastor Dana Heckman-Beil officiating. Interment with military honors will follow services at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
