Deno G. Langis

Deno G. Langis, 86, of Elysburg passed away Friday, April 11, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 14, 1939 he was the son of the late Cornelia (Balabanos) and George Langis.

Deno was the husband of Judith M. (Hornberger) Langis.

He was of the Protestant faith and was a member of Elysburg Presbyterian Church.

Deno graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School in 1957 and from Lehigh University in 1961 with a degree in business.  

In 1975 Deno left his job with Johnson & Johnson and took over his family business Langis’ Candy Shoppe in Mount Carmel and ran the business until 1992. Langis’ served breakfast and lunch. The most important products were homemade ice cream and toppings and hand dipped candy. 

Deno also enjoyed photography, bicycling, candy making and gardening in his free time.

He was a member of Mount Carmel Lions Club, Elysburg Rotary and Elysburg Fire Company.

He is preceded in death by his brother Nicholas Langis.

Deno is survived by; spouse Judith “Judy” M. Langis, Elysburg; daughter Nancy DeJesus (Manuel), Fredericksburg VA; daughter Sandra Hatzel (Timothy Brandau), Coal Township; Dina Langis, Hoboken NJ; 9 grandchildren Manuel Jr., Shawntessa, Siera, Ariela, Jose, Eliana, Macario, Kimberly & Brandi; 6 great grandchildren Noah, Nevaeh, Leon, Raiden, Kaiden & Alaina; several nieces and nephews.

Services and interment will be private.
