Earl G. Richards,75 of 24 Valley Hill Road Ashland. passed away Tuesday, November 16th, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville with his wife Mary by his side . Born in Ashland, PA October 6,1935 he was the son of the late Robert and Dorothy Lane Richards. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Mt. Carmel,PA Graduated from Butler Twp. High School class of 1953;member of the Ft. Springs Fire Co.; American Hose Co., Ashland; Frackville Elks; N.R.A.; Ashland Lodge #294 FAM and was a Past Master also Mason of the Year in 2004; Griscom Royal Arch Chapter #219,PHP,Life Member of Anthracite Joshua Ass.; Prince of Peace Commandery #39,Past Knight Preceptor Chapter of PA; Regal Council #65,PTIM; St. James Red Cross of Constantine, Shamokin, PA ; York Cross of Honor Penn Priory #6, Mechanicsburg, PA ; Allied Masonic Degrees #265, Pottsville, Past Sobereign Master ; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Schuylkill Forest #50, Pottsville,PA Scottish Right,Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg,PA Knight's Mason's Northeast #74, Hazleton,PA . Earl was owner of Richards Gas Station, Ashland for many years later starting Richards Bus Co. from 1964 until present . Surviving are his wife Mary (Mehlbaum) Richards, Ashland, One son survives: Earl Richards of Ashland,PA. A stepson:Glenn husband of RoseAnn Weinrich of Ashland,PA. Six brothers survive:William Richards of West Palm Beach,Fl., Lewis Richards of Macungie, PA., David Richards of Harrisburg,PA., Kenneth Richards of Mt.Carmel,PA., Wade Richards of Girardville,PA., Glenn husband of Roberta Richards of Gordon,PA. A brother Robert preceded him in death. Three step grandsons survive: Nicholas Weinrich,Allentown,PA; Glenn Weinrich, New York City; Jake Weinrich, Ashland. Nieces Nephews survive. Funeral Services will be held Saturday,Nov. 20th,2010 in Grace UCC,136 E.3rd St., Mt. Carmel, PA at 11:00 AM. Rev. Joan Brown officiating. Interment in Christ Church Cemetery, Ft. Springs, PA. Visitation Friday evening 5:30-9:00 P.M. in the North Schuylkill Auditorium, Ft. Springs,PA and Saturday 10:00-11:00 AM in Grace UCC, Mt. Carmel, PA . Masonic Services will be held Friday 7:00 P.M. at the North Schuylkill Auditorium.
