Earl G. Maurer, 93, of Overlook, went home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Louise (Spotts) Maurer.
Born December 19, 1929, he was the son of the late Florence and Darwin Maurer. Earl grew up in Tharptown, PA, graduating from Coal Township H.S. in 1947.
Upon graduating, he served in the U.S. Army as a corporal on active duty in Korea. He was honored with several awards, including the Bronze Star.
Earl committed his life to serving his family, church, and community. Earl was the co-owner of Maurer's Dairy with his brothers Ralph and James. Despite his early morning deliveries, his home was always open to family and friends.
Earl was deeply loved by his family and exemplified a life faithful to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved attending his daughters’ and grandchildren’s many activities. His grandchildren have many fond memories of their Pop pop such as his help with math homework, bringing ice cream for their school birthday parties and encouraging them with a "What do you think?" In his later years, he continued to love and encourage his family and friends on special occasions with his personalized cards and homemade apple dumplings.
He is survived by daughters Sharon Manning (Robert Manning) and Brenda Tarr (Daniel Tarr), seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a sister Ruth Wynn, sister-in-law Arlene Maurer and brother-in-law Buddy Spotts. He was proceeded in death by his brothers Ray, Ralph and James Maurer and sister Dorothy Raker.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers who attended him in his final years.
A private graveside service will be officiated by two grandsons, Pastor Matthew Tarr and Pastor John Messner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good News Club of Northumberland County, 53 Blue Hill Road, Northumberland, PA, or the Christian and Missionary Alliance, 46 N.
