Edward “Ed” Hancock Jr.
Edward W. Hancock Jr., 75, of Shamokin passed away Wednesday morning June 18th at his residence.
Born in Danville on January 10, 1950 he was the son of the late Kathryn (Fisher) and Edward W. Hancock Sr.
Ed graduated from Shamokin High School in 1968. He then graduated from Penn State University with a degree in engineering.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Ed worked for many years for Aqua-Roaring Creek Water Co. He also served in the Marine Corp as Sergeant E-5 and was honorably discharged. Ed served his county both at home and abroad. He was also a Northumberland County Deputy Sheriff.
He was Exalted Ruler, Shamokin Elks, 32nd Degree Mason Lodge 255-Shamokin (Worshipful Master twice), also was a member of Chapter, Counsel, Commandery & Consistory Masonry. He was a life member of Independence Fire Association where he served as elected and appointed officer. He was a member of Fairview Ambulance and volunteered as an EMT for 25 + years. Ed loved reading, camping, baseball, birds and cats.
Ed is survived by; spouse of 33 years Suzanne M. (Meredith) Hancock, Shamokin; 5 children Rebecca, Alex, Edward III, Jennifer & Theresa; stepson Chris Pensyl; 15 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 25th at 10:30 AM at the Elysburg funeral home. A viewing for family and friends will be Wednesday morning prior to services from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Elysburg funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow services at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
