Emelie L. Klouser

Emelie L. Klouser went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 1st 2026. While her family’s hearts are broken, they take comfort in knowing she is finally at peace.

Born in Coal Township on October 9th, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Irene (Brida) and James Rumberger. She attended Coal Township High School and later graduated from Mastbaum High School in Philadelphia in 1955.

In December of 1960, she married John H. “Jack” Klouser. Together, they shared over 30 years of marriage until his passing in 1995. A truly selfless woman of faith, she was the glue that held her family together.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and never said no to taking them to out a meal as “her treat”. Emelie enjoyed making and collecting doll houses, playing cards, and sewing/crocheting.

She was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Shamokin. A devout Christian she also prayed for nearly every person she met. She stood firm in her beliefs. Her legacy will forever be remembered by those who knew her.

She is survived by a son, John H. Klouser II (Mindy) of Warminster, & daughter, Michelle T. Smedley & her companion Saverio Nanni of Mount Carmel. She also is survived by the true joy of her life, her grandchildren Reneé M. Mahon & her husband, Richard of Mount Carmel & John H. “Jake” Klouser of Warminster. She is also survived by her fur baby Nora, and her best friend Peggy Thompson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Rumbeger, a daughter in law Mindy Klouser, and a son who died in infancy. She is also reunited with her exceptional dog, Baron. Emelie’s family would like to extend a thank you to the staff & her dear friends at Serenity Gardens for taking care of her in her final months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “The Next Step Program” in her name, or your local ASPCA.

Services will be held on Tuesday April 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Odd Fellows Cemetery Chapel, 2400 Trevorton Road, Shamokin PA 17872.  A viewing for family and friends will be at the chapel prior to services from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM Tuesday morning.
