Eugene F. Brokus

Eugene F. Brokus, 76, of Elysburg passed away Thursday morning January 4th at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Shamokin on March 27, 1947 he was the son of the late Jean (O’Shinskie) and Vincent Brokus.

Eugene was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” A. (Shinskie) Brokus, they were married on June 28, 1969 and have been married for 54 years.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Eugene graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes with the class of 1965, then graduated from Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. He also attended Susquehanna University.

He was a teacher at Mount Carmel Area High School for 30 years where he taught French and Latin.

Eugene enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid outdoorsman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; brother Gregory Brokus and daughter Amy Jo Hager.

Surviving are; wife Peggy Brokus, Elysburg; son David Brokus Sr., Catawissa; 3 grandchildren David Jr., Luke, and Abby; brother Vincent Brokus, Shamokin; brother Joseph Brokus (Judy), Elysburg, sister Cathy Khanna (Sudhir), Overlook; many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private at the request of the family.
