Flora A. Gilger

Flora A. Gilger, 97, formerly of Elysburg passed away Sunday evening December 10, 2023 at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

Born in Paxinos on May 6, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Helen (Snook) and Ralph Haupt.

Flora attended and graduated from Shamokin High School.

She was the wife of the late Chester Gilger who passed away in 1998.

Flora was of the Protestant faith and was a member of Ash Grove United Methodist Church in Paxinos.

She worked most of her career as a seamstress in several local factories.  Flora enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family.   She was a member of the Elysburg Garden Club.

In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by; brother Ralph Haupt; brother John Haupt; brother Kenneth Haupt; sister Margaret Duceman; sister Betty Cawthern; sister Helen Harris.

Flora is survived by; son Lonnie E. Gilger (Mary), Elysburg; granddaughter Lana Gilger, Shamokin; granddaughter Lauren Cook (Adam), Riverside; granddaughter Lori Gilger, Denver CO; grandson Lon Gilger, Elysburg; 2 great granddaughters Mackenzie & Elizabeth; many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held privately at the family’s request.
