Grazia Purpura
Grazia Purpura, 86, of Mount Carmel passed away on Wednesday morning September 4th at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Palermo, Italy she was the daughter of the late Gioacchina (Anello) and Francesco Conigliaro.
She was the loving wife of Pietro “Pete” Purpura who recently passed away on August 29, 2024. They have been married since November 30, 1963.
Grazia of the Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Grazia Purpura was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife who loved her family more than anything. She always made sure her family was well taken care of which included always having a full stomach, feeling loved, and made sure everyone had everything they needed. No one ever felt like they were missing anything or needed more than they already had.
She was a selfless person, one with a heart of gold. Grazia enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting, watching The Price is Right with her grandchildren and spending time with her dog Valentina. She also loved the color red, especially flowers.
Grazia radiated sunshine. Her presence brought warmth and joy to every room she entered. Just her presence made even the darkest days seem brighter and her laughter was contagious, a source of comfort and happiness.
Grazia and Pete were one and the same. Kind, caring compassionate people. Both devoted to the people and things they loved. They were never apart, like two peas in a pod. You found them making meatballs together at the restaurant, eating at their dinner table, taking trips to Walmart, and gardening in their backyard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; brother Giuseppe; sisters Rosalia, Antonia & Filippa.
Grazia is survived by; son Frank Purpura; daughter Grace Schlader (Dave); daughter Giovanna (Antonio) Mangiapane; son Anthony Purpura; grandson Rosolino Mangiapane; granddaughters Daniela & Valeria Mangiapane; brother Salvatore Conigliaro; twin sister Maria Russo (Francesco); nieces, nephews, extended family in Sicily and Sao Paulo, Brazil and her beloved dog Valentina.
Funeral services for the couple were held on September 5th from their church. They were both laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery in Elysburg.
