Jean Huffman

Jean Huffman (Haspe), 65, of Coaldale, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022, at her home.

Born in Philadelphia, Jean was the daughter of the late Eugene and Sophie (Kleckner) Haspe.

Jean was a graduate of Panther Valley High School (Class of 1974). In 1979, she joined the United States Navy where she served as a Yeoman Second Class Petty Officer. While stationed at Fighter Squadron 126 (VF-126) at Naval Air Station (NAS) Miramar in San Diego, CA, she served as the Flight Operations Supervisor. Jean was proud to be a veteran and looked back on this time of her life fondly. She loved telling the many stories about her time serving and cherished the close friendships she made during these years.

Jean was known by her friends and family as someone who would do anything for them, but she is likely most known for her incredible sense of humor. Her quick wit made her the life of the party and she enjoyed laughing as much as she enjoyed making others laugh. Jean had a knack for writing and her original birthday card poems will be missed by all who knew her. She was a games enthusiast and loved all things trivia particularly playing Trivial Pursuit, Quiz Planet, and watching ‘Jeopardy!’. Unbeknownst to some, Jean was also an excellent pool player. Her greatest joy, however, was being a grandmother.

Surviving are the loves of her life: a daughter, Kirby, wife of Matthew Fye of Nashville, TN, and two granddaughters, Dylan Amelia and Briar May. Jean is also survived by sisters Claire Remington, wife of Odess, of Coaldale and Elaine Stefanoski, wife of Edward, of Hazleton as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Jean will be held Thursday July 6th at 10:30 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville PA 17003.
