Joseph J. Leinenbach

Joseph Leinenbach, 84, of 313 S. 13th Street Ashland. passed away Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA. Born in Ashland, PA July 5, 1926 he was the son of the late William and Laura (Kirwan) Leinenbach . He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Ashland; graduated from St. Joseph's High School, Ashland and McCann School of Business. He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving in World War I I and the Korean War. He graduated from the Office of Special Investigation Training School in Washington, DC where he worked as a special agent in criminal investigations and counter intelligence for the U.S. Government. He was office manager for Girard Investment Co. and later owned operated the Girard Community Center in Girardville for 21 years until retirement. He was currently serving as Ashland Borough Council President , serving on Borough Council for eight years . He is a member of the Good Fellowship Club, Ashland; Charter Member of Post 7654 V.F.W. ; American Legion, Ashland; Life Member of the DAV; and a member of Ashland Senior Citizens. He was preceded in death by his wife Anne (Winters) Leinenbach in 1993. Surviving are a daughter JoAnne Leinenbach of Ashland, PA and lifelong friend John Skeeter Zendrosky of Ashland . Preceding him in death were a brother sister: William Leinenbach and Evelyn Devine . Nieces and Nephews survive . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mauritius Church, Ashland, PA, 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 4th, with Rev. John W. Bambrick officiating. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ashland,PA. Visitation Friday 6:00-9:00 PM. from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home and Saturday 8:30-9:30 AM from the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph's Church Memorial Fund, 1117 Walnut St., Ashland, PA . Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, PA is in charge of arrangements .
