Joseph “Joe” J. Konas, 81, of Lavelle passed away Wednesday evening March 11, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 16, 1944 he was the son of the late Ethel (Shoup) and Joseph Konas.
Joe graduated from Butler Township High School in 1962. He worked first as a welder then as a meter reader for PP&L-Frackville for 38.5 years before retiring in 2004.
He was the husband of Rhanay E. (Pennypacker) Konas.
Joe was a hunter. He loved snowmobiling, boating, waterskiing, fishing and camping. He and his wife did state park hosting for 17 years. Joe was an avid amateur ham radio operator for 20 years, his special hobby call sign was KB3NXT. He and his wife loved going on their UTV riding through the mountain trails. He will be missed by all who knew him especially his wife, who was his friend and best buddy. He was also a trail guide for several Jeep clubs.
Joe is survived by his spouse of 51 years Rhanay E. Pennypacker, Lavelle; daughter Jessica Stank (Jason), Ashland; Kyle Konas (Trina), Ashland; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
Services will be private at the family’s request.
