Marianne R. Peters

Marianne R. (DeSantis) Peters, 70, of Elysburg passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 21st. 

She was born on November 13, 1954, the daughter of Reynolds and Mary DeSantis of Shamokin.

She graduated from Lourdes Catholic High School in 1972 and Penn State University in 1976. 

Marianne married David C. Peters (Frosty) on August 19, 1978.  Married for 45-years, they were inseparable and did everything together.  From Jeep rides to Knoebels, to hanging out with their friends, they lived retirement life to the fullest.  They loved to travel, spending many weeks annually at their favorite place in St. Pete Beach, Florida.  Her lifelong partner Frosty sadly passed away in January 2024. 

Marianne spent her entire working career at Danville State Hospital, where she held various positions.  After 32 years, she retired as the Director of Therapeutic Recreation in 2007.

Marianne enjoyed her early morning walks around Elysburg, doing yardwork and was an avid reader.   She also enjoyed cheering on her only grandson Max at his many soccer games and swim meets. She was a devote member of Queen of the Most Holy Rosery Catholic Church in Elysburg.

Marianne is survived by her son Ross Peters, his wife Ashley, cherished grandson Max, her sister Pat and husband Jay Valeyko, best friends Mike and Kate Krepshaw and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A funeral mass will be held on Monday Apil 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Queen of Most Holy Rosary Church, 599 W Center St, Elysburg PA 17824.  A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday morning prior to mass from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church.  Interment will follow services at All Saint’s Cemetery in Elysburg.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Marianne’s memory to Ralpho Township Public Library, 32 S Market St, Elysburg PA 17824.
