Mary Lou Gaughan
Mary Lou Gaughan, 97, of Ashland formerly Byrnesville passed away Sunday November 24th at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.
Born in Ashland on October 7, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Mary (Dougherty) and Joseph Donahue.
Mary Lou was the wife of the late Anthony Gaughan who passed away in 1986.
She was a devout Catholic and was member of St. Charles Borromeo in Ashland. Mary Lou was a member of St. Anne’s Guild and was known by many for making Easter eggs.
In her younger years she worked as a seamstress in several local factories. Later she worked for many years for Knoebel’s in catering. She also served on Centralia Borough Council for many years.
She enjoyed crocheting blankets, socializing and hosting parties.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by; daughter Patricia Fitzpatrick; son Tony Gaughan; son Joseph Gaughan; brother Michael Donahue; brother William Donahue; brother “Joey Doc” Donahue.
Mary Lou is survived by; sister Rose Ann Taylor, Ashland; daughter in law Anne “Nance” Gaughan, Wilburton; 7 grandchildren Kristen, Elizabeth, Shannon, Casey, Winnie, Angel & Anthony; 7 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, in laws, etc.
A Mass of Chistian Burial will be held on Friday December 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 1115 Walnut St, Ashland PA 17921. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday December 6, 2024 prior to mass in the church. Interment will follow mass at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Centralia.
