Nancy Nesbitt

Nancy J. Nesbitt, 90, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Nancy was born on August 24, 1932 in Boston, MA to Raymond H. Henderson and Mary Louise Harkness-Henderson. She graduated from Ralpho Township High School in 1950, and Susquehanna University in 1956 with a degree in Religious Education.

Nancy served as the Christian Education Director for several Lutheran churches in the Williamsport area in the 1970's, Director of the Lycoming Child Daycare Center for a number of years in Williamsport, and worked for Head Start in Luzerne County. After their retirement, Nancy and her husband participated in 14 mission trips, doing flood recovery work along the East Coast. She worked alongside her husband in ministry for over 50 years, and lived a life of great faith.

Surviving are three daughters Linda A. Lengle of Reading, PA, Susan L. Plocinski and husband Chris of New Cumberland, PA, and Elizabeth E. Churchill of Williamsport, PA, seven grandchildren, Meghan, Ben, Katie, Sarah, Ashley, Morgan and Alex, and 14 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, the Rev. George M. Nesbitt Jr., her sister Carol Henderson Lucey, and her grandson Private 2nd Class Adam C. Plocinski.

Nancy loved singing, playing the piano and working jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed spending time with her family at a cottage in Massachusetts, that her husband helped build. She often enjoyed Pinochle games with family and friends. Nancy loved children, and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A kind and selfless person - she brought joy to everyone who knew her and treated everyone like family.

While she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, we rejoice that Nancy is now in the presence of her Savior, Jesus. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 14 at 11 a.m. in the Elysburg United Methodist Church, Elysburg, PA. with visitation from 10 to 11. Rev. Michelle Beissel officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Elysburg United Methodist Church, 171 W Center Street, Elysburg, PA 17824.
