Paul Reidler Obituary

Paul G. Reidler, 101, of Willow Valley Glen, Lancaster,PA. passed away Monday, August 24th, 2009 at Willow Valley Square , Lancaster . He was formerly of Ashland Born in Tamaqua, PA February 3, 1908 he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Miller) Reidler. As a child he resided and was educated in Orwigsburg, PA . Mr. Reidler moved to Ashland, PA in 1928 and started his manufacturing business The Ashland Knitting Mills which continued to operate until 1998. His hobbies have included horseback riding, journal writing and walking . He received his 75 year Mason Pin in 2007. He supported and endowed Masonic Organizations in Orwigsburg, PA, Elizabethtown, PA and Orwigsburg, PA . He was one of the founders and first Treasure of the Pioneer Tunnel in Ashland, an original anthracite coal mine which runs horizontally instead of vertically. His favorite organization was Rotary International using much energy and finance on the extinction of Polio in the United States and throughout the world. A philanthropist, Reidler established the Ashland Trust Foundation in 1949 to benefit all organizations in Ashland and surrounding communities and now benefits organizations in Lancaster County since he and his wife moved there in 1994 . He had a love for poetry and would recite his favorite poems frequently . At one time bought a farm in Klingerstown, PA where he could be seen riding his tractor planting corn. He was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters. His first wife Elizabeth (Fertig) Reidler preceded him in death in 1993 . Surviving are his wife Helen M. (Ross) Schreck Reidler, Lancaster , PA . A son survives Carl J. husband of Diane Reidler of Klingerstown,PA. Two grandchildren: Jessica wife of Dr. Chris Lubold, Lancaster, PA ; Gail wife of Keith Mackey, Releigh, N.C. One great grand child : Ethan Lubold Stepchildren surviving : John T. Schreck, State College, PA ; Valarie A. Schreck, Baltimore, Md.; Thomas C. Schreck, Ashland, PA and Charles R. Schreck, Baltimore, Md. Seven step grandchildren survive. Private interment at the convenience of the family in Christ Church Cemetery, Ft. Springs, PA . The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Ed Brunner Nurse Education Fund, 645 Willow Valley Sq., Lancaster,PA 17602 or the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation, 216 S.
