Philip Cress Obituary

Philip J. Cress, 85, of 104 Hoffman Blvd. Ashland. , passed away Sunday, November 21st, 2010 at Mt. Carmel Nursing Center, Mt. Carmel, PA. Born in Conyngham Twp. January 14,1925 he was the son of the late Philip and Mary McDonald Cress. He was a member of St. Mauritius Church, Ashland. A United States Navy World War I I Veteran . He was a Life Member and Past Commander of the V.F. W. Post of Ashland. He worked for many years in local strip mines as a greaser later owned and operated Cress Stokes gas station in Ashland until retirement. He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty in 1986. Step son William Stokes; a brother Robert died in World War II and two sisters : Evelyn Reiff and Beatrice Hetherington. Surviving are his wife Carol (Fegley) Cress of Ashland. Two son's survive : Robert Cress, Germanville; Philip Cress of Aristes, PA Three step sons,one step daughter: Timothy Sweeney, Ashland; Michael Sweeney, Harrisburg; Dennis Sweeney, Montana; LeeAnn Interdanato, Gettysburg,PA. Four Grandchildren survive; Nine step-grandchildren; and five great grandchildren survive . Nieces Nephews survive. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, November 24,2010 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Ashland, PA. Interment immediately following in St. Mauritius Cemetery, Ashland,PA. Memorial contributions can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation,512 Township Line Road,One Valley Sq. Suite 133, Blue Bell,PA 19422 in memory of Philip . Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
