Robert J. Boris

Robert “Bob” J. Boris, 82, of Catawissa passed away on Monday evening December 22, 2025 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East.

Born in Danville on August 21, 1943 he was the son of the late Anna (Gara) and Walter J. Boris.

He was the husband of the late Jane “Lee” Boris who passed away December 15,2023.

Bob was of the Catholic faith.  He graduated from Shamokin High School in 1961.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962-66 “Special Forces”.   He was stationed in Anchorage, AK and survived the great Alaska earthquake measuring 9.2 on the Rictor Scale.  Bob worked for the National Security Agency.  He was a insurance agent for over 35 years.  

Both Bob and his wife owned and operated BJ’s Pizza in Shamokin from 1975-1983.

Bob was an avid golfer and LA Dodgers fan.    

He was preceded in death by; parents; wife Jane “Lee” (Craft) Boris.

Surviving are daughter Shannon Taylor, Catawissa; daughter Stephanie Banning (Leo Jr.), Hummelstown; sister Darlene Weaver, Shamokin; grandchildren Noah & Karlee Taylor, Megan, Jake, & Caleb Banning; many nieces & nephews; cat Sunshine.

Graveside services with military honors will be held privately at his request.
