Robert Kessler Jones

Robert Kessler Jones passed away in Miami Florida on January 20, 2023, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Danville, Pennsylvania on June 24, 1947, a son of John B. and Dorothy (Kessler) Jones.  He was a 1965 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School and attended Elizabethtown College.  While growing up in Elysburg and Mount Carmel, PA he was active in Boy Scouting, achieving the Eagle Scout award and served on the staff of Camp Karoodinha. He also visited Philmont Scout Ranch and attended the National Jamboree in Valley Forge in 1964.

In 1974, he relocated to Miami, Florida where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was employed for 33 years by the US Postal Service, retiring in 2014.

He is survived by; wife, Lucy (Arevalo); 4 step children Geraldo Curonisy, Lima Peru; Eduardo Curonisy, Madrid Spain; Carla Curonisy, Lima Peru; Stephanie Curonisy, Henderson NV; 4 step grandchildren; daughter Kim Forcier (Joseph), Washington DC; 2 grandchildren Maya & Luke Forcier; 2 brothers Northumberland County Judge Hugh A. Jones and former Mayor of Mount Carmel, J. Kevin Jones (Donna).

He enjoyed scuba diving, world travel, and was an avid Miami Dolphins fan. He was a former member of the Mount Carmel Elks and Miami Elks.  He was a life member of the former West End Fire Company and the Lithuanian Social Club, both of Mount Carmel.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 29th at 2pm at the Mount Carmel Cemetery (Chapel), 2320 Locust Gap Hwy, Mount Carmel PA 17851 with Rev. Kay Painter officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather prior to the service in the chapel from 1:15-2 PM.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s memory to a local charity of your choice.
