Robert Smith Simpson, 95, of Sacramento CA passed away Friday August 11th at his residence.
Born on May 31, 1928 in Wisconsin he was the son of the late Katerine (Smith) and Noel R. Simpson
He was of the Protestant faith.
He served in the Army with the rank of Staff Sargent during the Korean War.
Robert was the husband of the late Nancy Simpson RN who passed on September 13, 2022. He met Nancy Simpson and they were married on Sept 30, 1960. They lived on a walnut orchard of about 14 acres in Walnut Creek CA managing the property in exchange for boarding.
Early on he worked in San Francisco at Travelers Insurance Company in the TransAmerica building. He then worked as a senior land agent for California Department of Parks & Recreation until his retirement.
Robert loved hiking in the mountains and deserts of California and Nevada. He was also fond of horses and spent much of his spare time volunteering for an organization called Ride To Walk which helped young people overcome their disabilities by riding horses.
Surviving are; son Frederick "Rick" Simpson, Sacramento, CA; sister-in-law Marilyn Steinhart, Mount Carmel; brother-in-law Carl Baynham, Harrisburg, PA; several nieces and nephews..
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, September 11th at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, 1402 Bloom Rd, Danville Pa 17821.
