Robert J. Thurick Sr.

Robert J. Thurick Sr, 71, of Atlas passed away early Friday morning at his sister’s home in Middleburg. 

Born on April 1, 1951 he was the son of the late Elizabeth (McHale) and Jerome Thurick.

He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. 

Robert graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School with the class of 1969.

He worked as a general contractor throughout his career and was the owner of TK Insulation.  He also worked for Broadmoor Homes, Lapinski Lumber, and Scicchitano Contracting. 

Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and was especially proud of his 2 grandsons Nicholas and Michael. 

He was a member of Lithuanian Social Club, Mount Carmel for many years where held various leadership roles. 

In addition to his parent’s he was also preceded in death by; sister Theresa Varano; brother in law Dante “Danny” Varano; niece Lisa Varano; significant other Cathy Rusinko and his beloved dog Chico.

Robert is survived by; son Dr. Robert J. Thurick II, DO (Melissa), Ashland; sister Elizabeth Kotarski, Middleburg; sister Geraldine Kulick, Mount Carmel; brother John Thurick (Betty Ann), Bear Gap; 2 grandsons Nicholas & Michael Thurick; many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 10th at 11:00 AM from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 47 S. Market St, Mount Carmel PA 17851.  A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30-11:00 AM in the church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mount Carmel.
