Thomas J. Moffitt

Thomas J. Moffitt, 81, of Elysburg passed away late Thursday evening October 31, 2024 at Mountain View Manor surrounded by his family.

Born in Scranton on December 15, 1942 he was the son of the late Mary (Donnelly) and Joseph P. Moffitt. 

He was the husband of Lois A. (Hastie) Moffitt. 

Thomas was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Queen of Most Holy Rosary in Elysburg. 

He graduated from Holy Rosary High School-Scranton in 1960.   After serving in the Army, he graduated from University of Pennsylvania where he studied respiratory therapy. 

He worked his entire career as a respiratory therapist, most recently at the Shamokin Hospital and several other local hospitals prior to that. 

He was a member of Knights of Columbus-Elysburg Council #14161 and the Saint Thomas Committee. Tom enjoyed fishing, his New York sports teams and animals. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 3 sisters; Mary, Barbara, & Michelle. 

He is survived by; wife Lois A. Moffitt, Elysburg; daughter Claire Hauer (Michael), Hummelstown; daughter Catherine Moffitt (Ron), Elysburg; son Patrick Moffitt, Elysburg; 4 grandchildren Jacob, Jackson, Khloe & Emmalene; brother Joseph “Jody” Moffitt, Scranton; sister Kathleen Spear, Long Grove IA; many nieces & nephews who he loved dearly. 

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday November 6th from 10-11:00 AM at Queen of Most Holy Rosary, 599 W. Center St, Elysburg PA 17824. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow mass at Pine Hill Cemetery in Elysburg.
