Virginia ''Vergie'' (Tophoney) Wetzel

Virginia Virgie Wetzel, 83, of 1305 Walnut Street Ashland. passed away Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 at Broad Mt. Manor, Frackville, PA. Born in St. Clair, PA June 6,1927 she was the daughter of the late Felex Mary (Pollock) Tophoney . She was of the Catholic Faith, attended St. Joseph's School in Ashland. She worked at the Ashland Shirt Corporation in Ashland until retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Wetzel Jr. in 1982. Surviving are two daughters one son: Carol wife of Guy Mervine of Willow Grove,PA. Regina wife of Ronald Akelaitis of Miami,FL.; Henry husband of Evelyn Wetzel of Ashland,PA. A son Raymond Wetzel preceded her in death in 2004. One sister survives: Theresa McDonald of St. Louis,MO. Preceding her in death were five brothers, two sisters: Louis, Alfred, Joseph, Francis, Vincent and a half brother Tony Bosco. Two sisters Anna Barrett and Margaret Tallet preceded her in death. Six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces nephews survive . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mauritius Church, Ashland, PA, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 2nd, with Rev. John W. Bambrick officiating. Interment at Brock Cemetery Ashland, PA. Visitation Friday 6:00-8:00 PM. the at Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home. Visitation Saturday 10:00-11:00 AM from St. Mauritius Church, Ashland,PA .
