Virginia A. Hornberger

Virginia “Ginny” A. Hornberger, 68, of Elysburg passed away Sunday afternoon May 24, 2026 at her home surrounded by family.

Born in Shamokin on November 5, 1957 she was the daughter of Helen (Campbell) Swank and the late Bertram Sipple.

Ginny graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School in 1975.   She worked for and recently retired from Mountain View Nursing & Rehabilitation where she was the head of housekeeping and laundry.

She was of the Protestant faith.

Ginny was the wife of the late Scott A. Hornberger who passed away in 2022.

Ginny loved reading, spending time with family and taking many trips to Aruba over the years.

She is survived by; mother Helen Swank, Lancaster; daughter Heather Hornberger (Samuel Mordan), Dixson MO; sister Betty Poremba, Lancaster; 3 grandsons Evan Hornberger (Natalie), Harrisburg VA; Samuel & Gabriel Mordan, Dixson MO; 2 nieces Rebecca Morris & Holly Templin.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 30, 2026 at 11:00 AM from the Elysburg funeral home.  A visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday morning at the funeral home prior to services.  Internment will be private at the family’s request.
