William “Bill” G. Freeman, 83, of Elysburg passed away Thursday evening December 24, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center-Danville.
Born on September 11, 1942 he was the son of the late Ethel (Gruneberg) and William S. Freeman.
Bill graduated from Shamokin Area High School in 1960 and from Penn Tech College-Williamsport where he earned a degree in HVAC.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Bill was the husband of Barbara M. (Murdock) Freeman. They were married for over 60 years.
He worked for the Shamokin Area School District and TRW throughout his career. Bill also served in the US Navy during the Bay of Pigs Invasion.
He was a member of F&AM Shamokin Lodge 255 and Caldwell Consistory-Bloomsburg.
Bill enjoyed reading, trains and tinkering with electronics. He was able to fix anything.
In addition to his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by his sister Joyce McCallister.
Surviving are spouse Barbara M. Freeman, Elysburg; son William J. Freeman (Christine), Marion Heights; son Shawn J. Freeman (Kimberly), Bloomsburg; son Marc M. Freeman (Sandy), Bloomsburg; daughter Julie L. Freeman (Harry), Collegeville; brother Edwin “Ed” Freeman (Marianne), FL; 8 grandchildren Mitchell, Kate, Gannon, Hunter, Shawn, Jacob, Reagan & Harrison; several nieces & nephews.
A Celebration of Life with military services will be held at a later date.
