William F. Grow, 76, of Shamokin passed away Monday afternoon August 21st at Geisinger Medical Center-Danville.
Born on November 20, 1946 in Shamokin he was the son of the late Frances (Fauland) and William W. Grow.
He graduated from Shamokin High School in 1964. He later graduated from Williamsport Area Community College with a degree in electronics.
William was of the Protestant faith and attended Elysburg Presbyterian Church.
He was the husband of Carol Ann (Dombroski) Grow, they were married in 1971.
William was a 27-year veteran of the Shamokin Police Department. Starting as a patrolman, he advanced through the ranks of corporal then detective finally retiring as chief. After his retirement from the Shamokin Police Department he worked as a manager for RF Communications in Catawissa then as a dispatcher for Area Services. He was last employed in maintenance for J&D Campground in Elysburg.
He was a member of FOP Lodge # 25-North Schuylkill, life member of Liberty Hose Co-Shamokin and the Civil Air Patrol.
William was an accomplished ham radio operator.
In addition to his parent’s he is preceded in death by an infant brother Francis.
In addition to his wife he is survived by; son William R. Grow (Laurie), Oklahoma City OK, daughter Brigette Delorso, Coal Township; son Paul Grow (Patricia) Shamokin; son Christopher Grow (Maria) Great Falls MT; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday August 26th from 10am-2pm at Rescue Fire Company, 501 N. Liberty St, Shamokin PA 17872.
