William Wahalec

William Wahalec, 39, of 20 S. Fourth Street, Frackville, died unexpectedly Monday at his residence.   Born in Summerset ,N.J. June 19, 1970, he was the son of the late William Claire Carey Wahalec.  Bill was active and enjoyed playing golf, working out and spending time coaching his son's sports teams.  He was a 1989 graduate of North Schuylkill High School and proud Marine, having served from 1989 through 1993 and in operation Desert Storm.  He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections for 17 years. He started his career at SCI Graterford, later transferred to Quehanna Boot Camp and most recently worked as a sergeant at SCI Frackville. He was a devoted member of the department's hostage rescue team.  He was also a member of the Gordon Fire Company.  He is survived by his wife of 19 years, the former Amy Hudock.  Along with his pride and joy, his best friend and son, Carey Michael Wahalec.  He is also survived by sisters Claire Ann, wife of Mark Kalenkoski, and Marie Wahalec of Shenandoah, and a cousin Liz Beckett, Frackille.  Nieces and nephews.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 8,2010 at 10:00 AM from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home in Ashland. Rev. Dana Heckman-Biel officiating. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ringtown, PA . Visitation Friday evening 6:00-9:00 P.M. and Saturday 9:00 AM til time of service from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, PA .
